2022
I'm not going to finish this but I'll be thinking about it for a very long time
He came out so cute tf. Bebino
I did want the fimbriated folds on the tonguetail to be fringed originally, but I forgot to write it down and thus never added them to the ref
Design elements that call to each other can help characters immensely with them feeling more cohesive
The knife sharp bottom secondaries are supposed to mirror one of the most eyecatching details on the head (the sideburns)
now to fatten the primary feathers area
I'm really tired I'm stopping here for now. Recycling a couple doodles if any looked at all familiar
If god FUCKING wills it this'll be the definite one. Until the one that will come after it of course but let's not talk about that
i had this cute wig saved on pinterest and since I've been wanting to remake an amazon meathead I did years ago and repurpose her for Quazar (working title), I gave her It except with a braid as opposed to a ponytail as a placeholder
i did spend a long time looking for a thing and I'm mad I couldn't find it, but I dug this out among other stuff
wonder why I saved the file to be so small, this is the largest res at 890x521, insanely tiny compared to my usual
I don't think I've ever had a more spot-on handle than "mr. darcy cringe comp" on here. It is Broody, it is Cringe, it is a Compilation
artistic rendition
getting rid of the phone for the final pic & maybe share the og doodle only as context, it gives me a chuckle but I think most ppl would be like ??
I just like it better as a legit picture rather than a weird joke as well
please donate to my kickstarter so I can pay Jermaine Clement to record some lines for my purple cat guy
here's my pitch
ok concept time: fortune teller who juggles crystal balls, each sphere predicting an outcome at complete random (think of magic 8-balls, ask again later and you will get a different result due to the large pool of possibilities)
ATTEMPTING a new mainpinned idk
not writing down links in there bc that's... kinda useless isn't it lmao, I just want to make a nice little picture that will look okay-adjacent
one day I'll create some friends for him to interact with and bounce off of. that day is not today (it's no aim doodle day)
me, in extreme pain: No, listen- Listen. It's important i do this all my unfinished WIPs:
Oh yeah I made myself a bristle brush that matches my current lineart & paint brushes. You would think I'd have done that sooner but alas I'm not known for my good quality of life management skills
It doesn't tilt with my strokes as well as I'd like but it's fine
Imagine a world where I wasn't free to broadcast every dumbfuck thought that waltzes thru my head. I love Freedom
I'd append this snip to the thread it belongs to, but I don't wanna go fetch it, so I'm tweeting it as a new piece
I decided I want the wet & creamy oil paint look so I'm experimenting with a set of brushes I've had for 4853 years but never really used lmao
notes on hair
- When painting, blocking out hair mass as opposed to lining every single hair is better. But do define single strands when near the outside of the overall mass
- You know how wigs are made. Start shading from the chunks closest to the nape/chin/scalp. Work upwards
Update on the eyes: the slit pupils, being so thin, caused the blue to look too overpowering, so I fattened them up to neutralize that
Everything else going as planned, doing the fabrics rn
ok so I had the epiphany of shoving Prince into the mix
I've been thinking abt it for a while tbf, then I wrote a bit more lore last week w a new chara and I just went. Wait a FUcking minute
doesn't he look good there. fairly oddparents cosmo as a tumblr sexyman looking ass
There was a reason why I drew this, but I forgot. I sure am getting comfortable with this Cagliostro iteration
Minor revisions to make her more cockroachy
Sometimes I prioritize having the silhouette be similar to the reference subject, rather than just doing a 1:1 reproduction of it but anthropomorphic. I think it's cool and it helps give the character additional vibes

doesn't matter that the meshes clip in places, I'll remesh them anyway

Extruding the limbs instead of making separate models so there are no seams
Before moving onto this To Do list I'll have to make the legs & clothing obviously but so I don't forget:
- ringlet articulation
- redo textures to line up w new geometry
- make illicium rod

All done on main mannequin, retextured the head, hair to come. Shading on body isn't super vital bc she'll be wearing a dress anyway
The hands came out really cute & they were very easy to make too, I could never sculpt them right to begin with in other apps let alone this nice

I spent 3 hrs fidgeting w a whole dress for the model out of cloth, couldn't make it work bc it kept being simultaneously 2 flowy & clipping everywhere, then I chose to sculpt the top so it'd be formfitting & have only the skirt be cloth. & that still clips but less so. I'm tired

tbh I'd like to make a 3D sculpt for indigo too, trying to figure out if it'd be worth it bc I have a feeling he wouldn't translate v well to semi-lowpoly, the hair at least
w iivi I could exemplify the ringlets into beveled cylinders, dk how wilder hair could be done. Look him
there aren't enough similarities for Mel Brooks to sue me is there
please mr. brooks don't sue m
I had thought I could make this bristle brush available 4 dl, but I made it specifically to match my current sketch/line brushes, meaning I used those brushes (that are not mine) to make it
Besides, I can't rly see an use for it other than doing This here thing of mine anyway, so

Speaking of simply showing off a minor design change as opposed to making a whole new ref that'll turn obsolete in 0.5 fartoseconds, his abdomen ends in a point now. Like irl cellar spides
Trying to decide which one tho, I like both but maybe inward is best? not sure

actually I was toying with the idea of giving them stubby little legs + fat tail & pelvis area, Briggs-adjacent, because it's so fun to draw. But not as compressed tho that guy is built like a sentient triangle

reworking the arm pose
Newer one looks much better imo, somewhat reads as an invocation
