trying to decide if the water drips are distracting, i guess seeing it here can help/span>
So glad i gave this wannabe girlboss that's actually cringefail two male best friends that are also cringefails but still treat her like she's a girlboss
There's no Fuligo if he's not depicted with the glassiest, most unsmiling eyes one can muster
that's a nice outfit yves saint laurent, would be a shame if someone were to not be a coward and put a fat person in it
embarrassed to admit that I think it *literally* just clicked why the painting in grayscale before moving onto color
his face is coming out adorable... stinky, but precious
(am trying to make a new pfp for myself, it's a full picture because I can't seem to ever like it if I'm working on a smaller scale)
idr if i ever showed progress. well, Here
it's vital the viewer can see that the armchair has a hole in its back support piece, to ergonomically accommodate for bug ass
I set down proper light sources today. And then I fell asleep (it's not going to have a frame)
i had thought that it would be funny if all of Jules' critter forms mantained his stupid humanoid face regardless, but then i remembered that's just that one scene from wwdits
anyways
don't laugh but I've been struggling to progress with this picture for the past week because it's too precious and I cringe into dust every time I zoom out the canvas
anyways i brought up Heavy Metal magazine covers because that is what i had originally envisioned for him. Except dogshit i guess. i finally got the closure i needed, i'm free
LASER axe
putting holograms in the space where the body of the blade should be so it doesn't look empty
I've been struggling with finding a neutral but interesting enough pose for the price table, one that I can sketch, line, shade, and then paint. think i got it now
someday i'd like to make a proper expression sheet of sorts, but it should be kept in mind that he's not suuuper expressive to begin with. the most of it is conveyed thru the lip area & surroundings, as well as overall demeanor/posing
[June 22nd, 2023]
1. don't mind the leg pose i'm recycling this
2. arm shape's been bothering me, the idea was that they're thick but I didn't want em to be friendshaped, so I went with defined & muscular (bad)
3. fat ears
4. lifting the padded palms idea from vinny & if you tell them you are Gone
[June 29th, 2023]
there's so much to do
considering shrinking the hair on the wings significantly so that it only covers the wing shoulders and the back of the torso
ok so. of 4 figures, i redrew all the pairs of wings from scratch on each, relined 3, now I need to color all of them
In the meantime consider this for size comparison
the "kubrick stare" is one of stanley kubrick's most recognizable directorial techniques, a method of shot composition where a character stares at the camera with a forward tilt, to convey to the audience that the character in question is at the peak of their derangement
I've thought often of making a brush to draw Fuligo's roan hairs but when I use brushes made specifically for one purpose (in this case hair) it never ever looks natural
But it's a lot of tedious work and so time consuming and not always I'm able to go thru w it like, physically
i doodled this almost a year ago but I don't think I ever shared, he's taking a dip in a drinking trough
summer seasons greasons
when i'm too tired to work on anything but want to draw my art reverts to its basal state of being (draw a cunty creature with no chin and really stumpy legs)
i have no interest to keep or develop this, i'm just killing time. mood ring catsuit
what if I undermined my own intent with this design by taking away his distinctive armoire-esque frame, as a treat
i tried touching this thing from 2021 (?) yesterday and never again because as it turns out decidedly AFAB feminine presenting sonas feel pretty uncomfortable now
but the pose is interesting. recyclable

i'm going with the stick legs but i'm showing off the trunk leg pants too because they're cute

anyways i thought about him today and i want to update & refine some doodles
he used to be so pudgy in the face... now he can cut glass
i didn't give him ratty enough hair last time. in fact it could be worse
can you imagine aggressively teasing This much hair, from root to tip christ knows how many thousands of strands. i'd rather shoot myself
do you have an 'X walked so Y could run' character map. I do, i spent a stupid amount of time on it so you better look at it
1. I've been using a colored brush set to Multiply to draw lines for some time now. I think it looks cool
2. A problem I have w hair is that it's often not as layered/volumetric as it could be. need to fix that
3. what would u do if he barged in thru ur window like this
i haven't archived my own acct in a hot minute and I don't want to scroll through months worth of shitposting, so you'll have to pretend this is a qrt to that one tweet that went "(drawing hair) Autism: Engaged"

Made this btwn yesterday & today, bc actually i dont *have* to guesstimate all the time. It'll help a lot with horn placement especially

fuck automatic weights they are my foe
I didn't even consider i can just do without them and go with this method instead, which works for me bc i modified the mesh pieces to achieve this effect anyhow
Will polish it all & add joints in more places, including the hair!

if i have to toot a horn it'll be that I know how to construct a character in a way that would make a 3 dimensional rendition fairly faithful to its 2 dimensional one
most of the time. well anyways idk how worth it it'd be to sculpt his tiny little ears since they'd be hidden

working on this vamp sheet is fun because i'll doodle a guy and realize they're too Normal so I'll move them up the scale of normalness
you were NOT supposed to be cute >:(
i've figured out a brush combo of a soft watercolory one and a scratchy multiply one, that i think works very well. they were sitting in my collection untouched this entire time
as a layout i thought of layering all the rows like this, so that the bottom ones are above the top ones, sort of creating a flat model in the background effect. they aren't lined up with each other height-wise though
i've been naming all of them so i can easily identify each one. at some point one becomes so old names turn frivolous, thus they're slowly forgotten
which is funny in a meta way i guess since as stated above I've been giving the others names but that's neither here nor there
two years ago I created this creature on a whim, not being super engaged with it, and now that i look at it again i rather like it
i've been testing out many different brushes for penciling to spice things up for myself, but none of them feels right so far
it's either too round & blurred, or ink-adjacent. none of them is as versatile as the one set i've been using for a couple years
ok i deleted the previous This bc the darker markings weren't good And I fixed the comb
i wanted the crest to be reminiscent of lace while also looking like a feature an animal would have, trying to figure out those darker markings still
why did i have to choose a spider species whose web looks like a jumbled shite mess and that barely reads as a spider web
he's proud of it but i must relay the bad news (it sucks ass)
truth be told I've been massively dragging my feet w this bc I Hated the leg pose, couldn't get it to work at all, thus I've been trying out diff ones. Doesn't help that carni's knees & ankles aren't hinged like a bird's
BUT I'M ONTO SOMETHING AT LAST. AM I FREE
i polished it. sad that in this pose the drumsticks tucked in the back of his shirt aren't visible
